Emily's almost smile.... they're both smiling a lot more now.
Farmer Allison. She looks so adorable in these overalls.
i can't believe Thanksgiving is so close. i love love LOVE this time of year and it's going to be even better this year with the babies and with Allison understanding more. This week is going to be a big week for us: Andrew has his vasectomy on Friday! i'm sure he's super nervous about this so say a prayer for him. We're all done having these beautiful babes-unless God wants a miracle =) i'm awfully sad i won't ever be pregnant again but we certainly have our hands full right now!
It's another Mommy and Allison day while Daddy works. She has been incredibly happy this morning even though we didn't get a whole lot of sleep. She just got done giving me the most smiles ever. So of course i picked up the camera... you can definitely see her eye color is some of those. It's weird how much Hilliker i see in her (my Dad's side of the family).
Well, talk about being Thankful...
Our first Thanksgiving as parents, it's such a good thing. This time last year i was grieving a very short but wanted pregnancy and wondering if we'd be able to get pregnant again. It was totally unchartered territories, settling into a brand new marriage, planning our future, and then trying to make happy memories through 3 holidays. i'm pretty sure we succeeded.
Now everything is different. For instance, the other night we were sitting down to eat dinner (rotisserie chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing) and Alli started crying. She wouldn't calm down in her "bouncy chair" so i had to hold her while we ate. i kidded that this is how it will be on Thanksgiving and probably Christmas (we've been talking about THE FOOD we'll be eating for quite some time heh). Wine tasting on Saturday will be tricky; who knows if i can even go. Our families' exciting poker games will be a lot harder to join in on with a little baby in my arms. On the other hand, waking up on Christmas morning at the Fort, everything covered in snow, with our 3 month old will be a dream come true. It's not about us anymore (i'm sure i'll be opening up my presents last... won't that be a first for little miss Kelli!)
i guess this will be the first holiday that i'll feel like an actual grownup. Kind of funny since i'm 31 years old. =)
So Friday we spent the majority of the day dealing with my old school, Western Oregon University, trying to compromise on a bill. It was partly their fault, partly mine, so we ended up paying a good chunk of it. i'm just glad that 6 years later it's finally resolved. Allison was a trooper, eating, sleeping and getting changed in the car.
Andrew and i had our date yesterday. We didn't see any good movies playing so we went shopping for Allison stuff. Ended up with some super cute outfits (like the one in the picture), blocks and books. Second hand stores are the way to go. i've heard you're supposed to forget about the kids completely when you go on a date, ya know, don't think about them, don't talk about them... maybe next time. Then we had a great dinner at Ruby Tuesdays (even though they will NEVER get their act together). i ordered my first hamburger ever. Andrew made me but i'm glad he did... it was yummy. And Grandma did an excellent job watching Alli while we were gone. =)
How is it possible that my daughter looks different, cuter, older every single day?? i swear she does...
Last night was Allison's first real case of "i am NOT sleeping unless you hold me". i got extremely frustrated (Daddy was sleeping so he could go to work this morning). Tried swaddling and her vibrating chair and kept inserting the darn binkie... nothing was working. i was in tears... ended up falling asleep with her on the couch in the living room. i should take a nap or go to Starbucks but i don't think that's gonna happen.
i know it's early but, i would love LOVE this purse for Christmas. =)
Along with this Wii game.
One Alli pic today:
We put Allison in the Bumbo last night to see how she'd do. i scooped her out of there after a few minutes but she did good. She's 7 weeks and wearing size 3 months in that picture. Still a little baggy but wow, hard to believe...
Today was fun. After wasting most of yesterday, we got up early and headed to breakfast, our first time doing that since having the baby, and then did some shopping/browsing at the mall. i finally got Andrew into Pottery Barn for Kids so he can see what i've been going on and on about. (Here's the rug we want to get for her room.) And who knew i'd ever be drooling over a $700 rocking chair? =)
Daddy took a cute picture of Allison before we headed over to Mom's for pizza and cider last night. Seeing all the little trick or trickers made me so excited to take Alli next year.
She's been sleeping okay at night now. We've been heading to bed at around midnight, after one more feeding for her, she'll wake up at 4 or 5am, 2 hours later we're back asleep until Daddy's off to work at 10am... it's manageable. i wish the days weren't going by so quickly though! We just get dressed and fed and then it's dark again. PLUS, she's 7 weeks already; time to get a jay oh bee, Kelli.
One more thing. November is NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month) so the goal is at least one post a day. =)
My 6 week OB appointment was today. Nothing unusual happened, he just checked my c-section scar, made sure i wasn't depressed (i'm still not), talked about my blood pressure, which was normal today (going to stay on the medication for a couple more months) and then discussed birth control. He was very surprised when i said we might want to go for baby #2 right away. i have a prescription for b.c pills if i want to take them or we can just see how things go... he was certainly happy with my weight loss since giving birth. i'm down quite a bit from before getting pregnant (um almost 30lbs.) and he was encouraging me to keep going with that. That's not exactly easy while i'm nursing; i could eat all day long, and not healthy stuff either.
Allison and i have been listening to French music this evening. =)
Oh the coolest news is that she smiled for her Mommy last night. Three times! i almost ran to get the camera but she got fussy before i could. Next time! It was so wonderful.
Here's Daddy, eating her up...
