Ya know what's really weird about this whole mom thing? i'm responsible for cutting 30 finger nails and 30 toe nails on a regular basis, plus my own. Andrew said he wouldn't mind if i was in charge of his too.
i LOVE this picture. It is Allison's personality to a T. =)
i think she's going to have gorgeous skin.
His eyes seem to be staying blue.
Allison with one of her beloved Ikea dishes.
Can't believe they're almost 3 months already! i also can't believe we let them sleep in our bed most nights. There is not going to be room very soon! Well, it's already a tight squeeze. Last weight check @ 9 weeks they were both around 11lbs. but they're far beyond that now, i'm sure. The smiling and cooing has begun. SO CUTE.
Allison is amazing. She's so smart and cognizant and funny. She is also throwing MAJOR tantrums these days. The walking is in full force, she has finally started using some of the signs we taught her and she loves books. A whopping 14 teeth are now in her mouth (at 14 months old). Last visit she was about 30lbs. and is wearing 18-24mos. clothing and size 7 shoes.
i'm doing pretty good. My only real complaint at this point, besides the obvious lack of sleep, is my tailbone. Although it's more common to injure it during a vaginal birth (which i didn't have) it's also possible to hurt it while being pregnant. The muscles in that area are incredibly painful when i sit for long periods (while pumping, feeding, etc. for hours each day and night) and even worse when i get up. Only time will tell what happens with that. Ouch!
Okay, that'll do for now.
Emily's almost smile.... they're both smiling a lot more now.
Farmer Allison. She looks so adorable in these overalls.
i can't believe Thanksgiving is so close. i love love LOVE this time of year and it's going to be even better this year with the babies and with Allison understanding more. This week is going to be a big week for us: Andrew has his vasectomy on Friday! i'm sure he's super nervous about this so say a prayer for him. We're all done having these beautiful babes-unless God wants a miracle =) i'm awfully sad i won't ever be pregnant again but we certainly have our hands full right now!
Allison is becoming such a fun girl. She's always been happy and social and spirited but now, ohh now she's walking around being a little person! She's responding to what we say and doing exactly what she wants; sometimes it's what we want too. She's trying to help us, she's expressing her feelings, she's just so awesome. It's amazing to watch her change and discover this world. i still can't believe she's walking!!!! And i'm in awe that we get to experience this joy two more times.
Sesame Street is now a part of our lives. i think that's a good thing, it has lots of positives and it allows us a few minutes to get things done in the mornings. She loves the beginning part, anything with Cookie Monster or Elmo, and the ending, mainly because it's familiar. She has started to protest food, which is normal for her age, and has come face to face with "the time out chair". So far it's working. i know it's still a game for her but the mere mention of the time out chair and she starts behaving again for me. Ahhh the excitement...
Giving Kadin his binky... and then taking it back out.
And the babies looking twinny.
Also, the babies had 2oz. each of formula in the last 24 hours. That's it! i'm amazed because they're eating 4oz. each every 3 hours... that's 64oz. Minus a little bit for their longer stretch at night, that's still at least 54oz. i'm able to give them. i'm so proud of that.
i tried to post this her a few days ago but it wouldn't let me. They are 1 week old today. Emily is still in the step down NICU (spent 4 days in reg. NICU first) and might be coming home in a day or two. Kadin came home with me on Monday and is doing so well. They're just gorgeous babies.
35 weeks 2 days
Born 9/11/08 @ 1:18pm and 1:20pm
Kadin Robert weighed 5lbs. 2oz, 17 and a quarter long
Emily Faye weighed 5lbs. 14oz, 19 and a quarter long
My son is smaller but is the one doing better; he's been rooming with me since birth and is in perfect health. We're working on the breastfeeding.
Emily is in the NICU on CPAP, although she's doing okay. Might go home with me on Monday.
i'm beyond exhausted and completely in love with my babies. i've only slept 3 hours since Thursday afternoon. Kadin is going to the nursery tonight for a few hours so i can try to sleep.
Okay, i keep nodding off... here are some pictures!
Emily today while off CPAP for a moment.
i'm going to miss my belly. As hard as carrying 2 babies is, i'm going to miss how i look, how they feel and i'll miss being able to keep them fed and safe so effortlessly.
They're coming out in 2 days.
Dr. deCastro called last night and he's decided pre-eclamspia is on its way; it's time to deliver @ 35 weeks 2 days. i started having horrible headaches this last weekend and last week my blood pressure started climbing. They took some blood and ran tests which showed my liver isn't happy. As difficult and draining and emotional as the last several months have been, i'm actually really sad to realize it's almost over. And i'm so scared that they won't be strong and healthy enough. All i can do is pray.
One more belly pic... nearly 35 weeks.
i'm sorry, Alli Balli, that this will interrupt your birthday party on Saturday. i'm sorry i won't be here for your birthday (Mommy will have to be in the hospital, but you will come visit) and i'm sorry your little brother and sister are going to be born so close to your birthday. i did all i could do, sweetpea.
The only thing to report on the baby front is my INSANE hunger. In two weeks i've gained 5 lbs! Now, this really doesn't make sense to me. Here's my logic: i ate WAYYYY more during the holidays, having desserts and sugar and gravy and booze up the wahzoo and barely gained a thing. Lately i've been eating very healthy things, with tons of fruits and vegies, juice and tea instead of coffee and diet coke, extra water, along with going on walks... and i'm really only eating when my body says its hungry. i know i'm going to get bigger but everything i've read said that it's normal not to gain anything this trimester, or even lose a little. i hope my growling tummy means twins. =)
